Why do we have to read Quran in Arabic?
The thoughts within There are numerous Holy Quran books on the market that are written in our familiar languages. What effect would it have? In any case, we are reading the Quran, right? Allah is aware of the reader's heart. We (non-Arabic readers) are not required to learn Arabic before reading the Quran. Phew, long procedure. At least we have managed to convince ourselves of this (if not everyone), right? Is this correct, though? Let us investigate.
Know where to seek the answer You have searched all over for the answer to this! The internet is a crazy place sometimes. And you will probably receive both answers. Yes and No. And thanks to human nature! It perceives what it desires to see. Don't worry, we have all been there, done that. Right? So, let's see why we should read the Quran in Arabic. But before that let us know more about the Quran…
What is the Quran? The Holy Quran is a gift from Allah (SWT) to mankind. Every word in the Quran teaches us some significant lessons that we can apply to our daily lives.
Why do you read the Quran? The Quran helps us find inner peace, so we read it. It gives us a sense of composure and calmness.
  • We read Quran because it is an ultimate guide for our lives. It teaches us humility, humanity and directs us to lead life peacefully.
  • Also, Allah (SWT) has said that when He decides to allow us to enter Jannah or Jahannam, the Quran will serve as a barrier between us and Him(Allah). We shall discuss this in detail in our upcoming posts Insha Allah.
How to read the Quran? Let's analyze how you need to read the Quran now. Is it ok to read in English verse? Does that make any difference? Well, Yes. Reading the Quran in English is NOT permitted. Yes, a little disappointed right. You may think there is no such rule anywhere that forbids you from reading the Quran in a language other than Arabic. But, this is more about being logical than searching for such a rule. Each word in the Quran is pronounced with different sounds and techniques which are matched according to the grammar associated with it. Even the most proficient Arabic reader of the Quran may not know how to pronounce the English version efficiently. For instance, how will you say the word “Insha Allah”? Umm, In-sha- Allah, right? But, did you know the proper way of pronouncing it is ing-shaa- Allah with the ng nasal sound in it? So that’s the logical way of knowing WHY. Technically, the Arabic words in the Quran mean something which we don’t understand(we being the non-Arabic readers). So, reading them in English may change the meaning of the sentences when pronounced wrong. That is why we say that the Holy Quran should be read only in Arabic. The Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said, "The best among you(Muslims) are those who learn the Quran and also teach it". Whenever you read every sentence in the Quran, you get 10 rewards. Imagine just by reading the holy Quran you are rewarded! Subhanallah!! Why would anyone want to lose the reward by reading it wrong?! That is why we say that the Holy Quran should be read only in Arabic. There is nothing but rewards in reading the Quran! Reading the Quran in Arabic will hopefully want us to know what they mean eventually, and Insha Allah, we can start implementing them in our lives. For Islam, is a way of life. Hope you have understood the answer to your question.
